This blockage causes unstable angina or heart attack (myocardial infarction), depending on the location and amount of blockage. A heart attack is death of heart tissue due to lack of blood supply.   Coronary atherosclerosis is a medical condition in which a person's arteries become clogged with cholesterol, calcium, and cellular material builds up on the inner lining of arterial blood vessels, it tends to harden and constrict blood flow.

Myocardial infarction accelerates atherosclerosis through activation of the sympathetic nervous system, and the consequent release of haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. factor v leiden in patients with myocardial infarction and normal coronary angiography.
